August 2014
I was a Cheshire marquee wedding photographer for Vicky and Tom in August. Not all marquee weddings are the same! This one had a very distinct vintage flavour and was perfectly styled by the Groom’s mum Natalie. She did such a cracking job that I had to ask her if she had done any styling before in a professional capacity. I was surprised to hear that the answer was no. There was bunting in abundance, lovely but simple floral arrangements on the tables, and beautiful propping here, there and everwhere. There was even a fabulous 1924 AC Royal Roadster owned by one of her friends that we had use of as a prop. This was just a little extra bonus in a wedding that offered me so many photo opportunities.

With six bridesmaids, three flower girls and a pageboy the getting ready shots were certainly hectic! In fact the Bride seemed to be the only calm one there, barring Dad of course, but then Dads are always calm! Vicky looked absolutely gorgeous in a very period lace and taffeta dress with pockets, and I have to say her make-up was very, very good, not that she needs much make-up.
With St Matthews in Stretton only a stone’s throw away from the Park Royal Hotel the bridal party walked to the church for what turned out to be a very emotional service. Lovely Vicky shed a tear or two as she walked up the aisle, and then during the vows there were a couple more. Lovely to see! Isn’t emotion what weddings are all about?
I’m always on the lookout for different backdrops so on the way back to the marquee I took the happy couple to a nearby wheat field. Though harsh sunlight is usually the last thing you want for Bride & Groom shots, here with the wheat acting as a giant golden reflector it was just the ticket. Soft fluffy clouds and blue skies too. Absolutely perfect! I planned the rest of the B&G shots for much later in the day when the light was soft and Vicky & Tom looked wonderful in all the lush greenery around the pond. This was a very enjoyable wedding to photograph with a harmonious blend of young and old. The glorious setting and perfect weather were just icing on the cake.
